LICHFIELD CATHEDRAL is famous for its West Front, with its one hundred and fifty-two statues. Among the memorials are Chantrey's famous 'Sleeping Children'. The Flemish glass in the Lady Chapel is only excelled by the windows at Fairford. St. Chad, the great missionary saint of Mercia, founded the first church at Lichfield.
